Green adventure

Some pupils in 3e had the opportunity to attend and participate in the plantation of some of the unique endemic plants of Mauritius, helped by their English teachers Tracy Ribet, Mrs Cazorla ans Zeenat Bidassy.

This revegetation of the native forest is currently taking place the Citadelle in Port Louis. This project is aimed at encouraging young people to participate in the conservation of mauritian biodiversity, but also to help them prepare for an educational project on Mauritian Flora and Fauna. On Saturday, November 11th and 18th a number of pupils answered the call. First of all, they visited Fort Adelaide (The Citadelle) and took advantage of the beautiful view it gave us over our capital. Afterwards the pupils met some of the people responsible for this magnificent project, including Erwin Armavassee. During this activity, they also learnt to plant properly, someting which is not as simple as we first thought.

The activity was very enjoyable and enriching. All in all, we planted over 50 Bois de Reinette plants and hope in the years to come to be able to walk through this regererated forest.
